Welcome to the Merced County Food Bank
The Merced County Food Bank is a private non-profit organization that grew out of community collaboration to feed the hungry in Merced County.

The Hub
The Merced County Food Bank is the hub of nonprofit food collection and distribution in the County, supplying the bulk of the food that many local agencies need to serve those living in poverty. We partner with our member agencies to provide food to programs in underserved neighborhoods through grocery pantries, senior centers, school lunches, daycare centers and hot meal kitchens.

Food Distribution
Food is distributed to people in need at neighborhood food pantries, school lunch and afterschool programs, and hot meal kitchens throughout Merced County.
The Food Bank is in partnership with over 80 area pantries and manages 22 USDA Commodities food distribution sites. In addition, the Food Bank is in the fifth year of administering the Senior Brown Bag Program providing food to very low-income seniors.

Transportation and Distribution
The Merced County Food Bank transports donated food to our warehouse for packing, sorting and distribution. Our clients come to the Food Bank and shop for food that their clients will use. A shared maintenance fee helps pay for the warehouse utilities, facilities upkeep and transportation costs.

Volunteers
We couldn’t do all that we do without our Volunteers. Our Volunteers sort, repack and shelve donations at the warehouse for our agency partners. Each year, hundreds of volunteers donate thousands of hours of their time. Thank You again and again to all of our Volunteers. You’re the best.

Donors
We live on monetary donations. Individuals and companies who donate are our lifeline.
We feed the thousands of Merced County people in need by effectively leveraging your donations by buying in bulk, at discounts and trading with other food banks and food suppliers.

Food Donors
The Merced County Food Bank establishes partnerships with growers, canneries, packers, retailers, wholesalers and other food banks to access to the food we need. We encourage donations of food that is healthy and safe to eat. Most of our many food donation partners are located in Merced County.
